Himasagara Tailam is a medicated oil described in the Ayurvedic classical text book Bhaishajyaratnavali. Himasagara Tailam is explained in the context of Vatavyadhi. This medicated oil is a combination of several herbs like Satavari(Asparagus racemosa), Amalaki (Emblica officinalis),Gokshura (Tribulus terestris) etc processed in a base of sesame oil and coconut milk. Himasagara Tailam is commonly used for Abhyanga ( body massage) and application over head. Application of oil over head and body is a part of the daily regimen (Dinacharya) explained in Ayurveda.

SHATHAVARI(Asparagus racemosus)
Pharmacological activities include galactogogue effect, anti secretory, antiulcer, antitussive, adaptogenic, antibacterial, hepatoprotective and cardiovascular activities.

AMALAKI (Emblica officinalis)
Amalaki exhibits strong anti-oxidant, immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, anti ulcer, hepatoprotective activities.

GOKSHURA(Tribulus terrestris)
It possess aphrodisiac, antiurolithic, cardioprotective and neuro protective activity.

NARIKELA (Cocos nucifera)-Coconut is beneficial in managing high cholesterol as it is rich in phenols. Virgin Coconut oil and Coconut water also has potent antioxidant activity. This reduces oxidative cell damage and lowers the risk of high cholesterol.

TILA THAILAM (Sesame oil)
Sesame is an important source of phytonutrients such as omega-6 fatty acids, flavanoid phenolic anti-oxidants, vitamins, dietary fibre with potential medicinal effects. Sesame oil is composed of fatty acids like linoleic acid, oleic acid, palmitic acid, stearic acid.

DHENU KSHEERA (Cow’s milk)
Cow’s milk is a good source of calcium, protein, vitamins and iodine.

CHANDANA (Santalum album)
