Description
Abhyanga or ‘massage’ is an integral part of the Dinacharya (Dialy routine) prescribed by Ayurvedic literature. Scriptures suggest the use of suitable oils massaged in the direction of hair growth and around joints, to pacify aggravated doshas and maintain balance.
Sahacharadi Thailam is a gingelly oil-based preparation mentioned in the ‘Sahasrayoga – Tailaprakarana’. Sahacharadi thailam is indicated for both internal and external application. It is found to have specific efficacy in restoring mobility and function in the lower extremities. It is a simple combination of Vata-hara drugs in a nourishing and warming Sesame oil base.

SAHACHARA (Nilgirianthus ciliatus)
It is widely used in South India in various preparations and is considered as an important Vatahara drug. Used in the treatment of Vata disorders, leprosy, high blood sugar, urinary problems, jaundice, menstrual disorders etc.
PRUSNIPARNI (Uraria picta)
Prusniparni is a well-known medicinal herb of Ayurveda. In Ayurveda, it is used in the treatment of asthma, dysentery, delirium, ulcers, malarial fevers, fractures of bones, inflammation of chest and diarrhoea, catarrhs, bleeding piles and many other ailments. The roots of the plants mainly contain alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, glycosides, proteins, steroids, tannins and phytosterols.
GOKSHURA (Tribulus terrestrius)
Being an amazing skin emollient, the prickly dried fruits of the Gokshura tree treats skin infections and inflammatory conditions. It also helps in treating the various signs of ageing like wrinkles, fine lines, dark circles, etc. and bestows a smooth, glowing, revitalized skin.
BRIHATI (Solanum indicum)
The use of Brihati in this oil helps reduce Vata disorders. It treats different types of skin infection and nourishes and rejuvenates the skin. Traditionally Brihati is used in treatment of respiratory ailments (asthma, catarrh, dry and spasmodic cough), dropsy, heart diseases, chronic fever, colic, scorpion stings, difficult urination, and worm infestation.
VILWA (Aegle marmelos )
The Bael tree or Bilva (in Sanskrit) is an ancient Ayurvedic tree known for its spiritual and medicinal importance. It is one of the Dashamoola (group of ten roots) herb. Belpatra is said to have anti-inflammatory properties and can be applied on any inflamed region for quick relief. Bael is said to have anti-fungal and anti-viral properties, due to which it is used in treating a number of infections in our body.
DEVADARU (Cedrus deodara)
Himalayan Cedar is very effective in neurological disorders, asthma, pruritus, infested wound. Devadaru is also effective in arthritis and headache.
AGNIMANTHA (Premna integrifolia)
The extracts of Agnimantha play a vital role in improving skin glow and texture. It prevents dark circles, blemishes, breakouts, scars left after the healing of acne, suntans, and various signs of ageing and provides a natural radiance to the skin.
SHILAJIT (Asphaltum punjabinum)
Shilajit s a natural ore found mainly in the Himalayas, formed over centuries by the gradual decomposition of certain plants by the action of microorganisms. Shilajit is an important Ayurvedic medicine given its therapeutic properties as a rasayana. In this context, health benefits such as an increase in longevity, rejuvenating, and arresting ageing roles have been attributed to it.
SATHAPUSHPA (Anethum sowa)
Saunf or Fennel seeds. It relaxes colon and decreases respiratory tract secretions. It is very useful in treating colic in infants. Also effective in abdominal colic, flatulence, indigestion, and also used in many Panchakarma treatments.
CHORAKA (Angelica glauca)
The herb, including the fruits and roots, is used for flavouring and is reported to possess carminative properties. The root is aromatic and is reported to possess diaphoretic and diuretic properties, and is used in flatulent colic. It is sometimes applied externally as a counter-irritant. Internally it is used in digestive complaints, flatulence or as a tonic for cold and the respiratory system.
THAGARA (Valeriana wallichii)
Calms the mind by interfering with brain chemicals (GABA) that communicate information between the nerve cells in the brain. Induces good sleep and reduced stress.
JATAMANSI (Nardostacys jatamansi)
It has very good antioxidant and anti-inflammatory property that helps to reduce premature hair greying and hair growth.
GAMBHARI (Gemlina arbora)
One of the Dashamoola roots it effectively reduces inflammation and improves wound healing. The potent antioxidant properties help in cleansing the blood and removing dullness of skin and wrinkles.
PATALA (Steriospermum sauveolens)
The herb is highly effective in purifying the blood. It also treats burns, wounds, reduces blisters, and provides relief from pain and burning sensation.
SHATAVARI (Asparagus recemosa)
